St. Michael Church + Van Nuys, CA
Carole Buleza, Archdiocese Director of Christian Education, writes:
Dear Pastor and Church School Director,
I am writing to give you early notice of a not-to-miss opportunity! The parish of St. Michael’s in Van Nuys will be hosting an educational day very soon after the new Church School year begins--the Orthodox Institute Southern California. The Institute is a pan-Orthodox continuing-education event sponsored by the Antiochian Department of Christian Education, and the Orthodox Christian Education Commission. “Sharing Our Faith,” the theme of the upcoming event, will be presented by Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick who originates the Ancient Faith Radio podcasts, “Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy,” and “Roads From Emmaus.” Fr. Andrew is a priest of the Diocese of Charleston, Oakland and the Mid-Atlantic. We are inviting all who are interested in the faith, and especially those involved in church school ministry to join us for the day--
Saturday, September 18, 2010, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This is an exceptional event--four tracks of courses will be available, including, for the first time, the Church School Director Seminar. We have attached some flyers and brochures; additional materials can be obtained from Kh. Elaine Alkhas of the host parish at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On behalf of Fr. Timothy Baclig, host pastor, Mat. Myra Kovalak, Director of the OCEC Department of Teacher Training, and myself, please consider joining us, and making it possible for your church school staff to attend. We would appreciate your giving early notice of this event in your bulletin, and by posting the flyers.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Your servant in Christ,
Carole A. Buleza
