St. Olive of Palermo, Virgin and Martyr

Commemorated on June 10

St. Olive was a beautiful girl of thirteen, of a noble Palermo, Italy family who was carried off to Tunis by raiding Muslims, in the ninth century.

She was allowed to live in a nearby cave, but when they found that her miracles and cures had converted people to Christianity, she was imprisoned, tortured, and after converting her executioners trying to burn her to death, was beheaded.

At the time of her death, her soul, in the form of a dove, was seen to soar upward.
