  Bishop THOMAS Consecrates Ground for New Church of The Holy Ascension, Valley Forge Pa

  On August 26th, His Grace Bishop THOMAS came to visit the parish of The Holy Ascension to bless us and our newly purchased 10 acre property where we plan to build our new Temple. With Sayidna's blessing, we have become the future founders of Holy Ascension. His Grace reminded us of the place which the Church and our mission will continue to have in our lives. Bishop THOMAS continued to encourage us as we help our community embrace the historic Orthodox faith. We look forward to the day when we can ask for His Grace's blessing to begin construction on our blessed land.

• Metropolitan ILYAS of Tripoli, Lebanon Visits Cathedral

  Visit of Metropolitan ILYAS - 09/23/07

  On Sunday, September 23, 2007, the faithful of the Cathedral were blessed with the surprise visit of His Eminence, ILYAS, Metropolitan of Tripoli, El-Koura and Dependencies. Sayidna ILYAS is the senior member of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East. Known for his exceptional chanting skills and knowledge of Byzantine music, he did not fail to live up to his renowned reputation.

  His Eminence served as a deacon in the Cathedral in the 1950's and as a priest in St. George Church of Boston, MA before his election as the Metropolitan of Tripoli in the early 1960's. He also served our Archdiocese as locum tenens during the transition between the late Metropolitan ANTONY and the election, consecration and enthronement of Metropolitan PHILIP.

• V. Rev. Fr. Constantine Nasr, Economos, 25th Anniversary

  These photos were taken during His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP's visitation to Oklahoma City to honor V. Rev. Fr. Constantine Nasr, Economos, on his 25th Anniversary as the pastor of St. Elijah. His Eminence met with the Sunday School, the Youth, the Ladies Aid, the Ladies Guild, the Adult Fellowship, as well as the Board of Trustees and the Order of St. Ignatius with a private visitation to Benny and Delores Homsey. Vespers and Divine Liturgy were celebrated and 25 members were inducted into the Order of St. Ignatius. Over 430 guests attended the banquet with a slide presentation of Fr. Constantine Nasr's ministry and a gift to Father and Khouriya Sharon.
